Dacula (duh-Q-la) is located approximately 6 miles of Lawrenceville and approximately 38 miles from Atlanta on the eastern edge of Gwinnett County. Dacula was established in 1905 and got its name by using the letters found in Atlanta and Decatur. You can find some of the oldest buildings in Greater Atlanta in the area, including the Elisha Winn House, which was the original courthouse in Gwinnett County. In the late 1800’s the town was home to a train station on a CSX rail line through Northeast Georgia.
According to the US Census Bureau, the 2015 population estimate in 2015 is 5,330 and the median household income was $44,825. Dacula is an excellent place to raise a family. The public school systems are ranked well above the state average and have the parent/teacher involvement is very good.
